AVP of IT

 

Advantage Tech is currently looking for an AVP- IT for our Kansas City Client. The position’s principal goal is to provide leadership to the Company's technical team and to cross-collaborate with peer Company leaders to attain, maintain and enhance all IT service level agreements as regards internal and external user communities. The AVP- IT is responsible for overseeing the company’s IT department operations and to ensure that it aligns with business objectives; additionally responsible for the overall management and strategic planning of the network, telecommunications, server infrastructure and computer services; along with the direction of internal IT teams, external consultants, and supplier partners to ensure that the IT operations effectively meets business objectives. This position is also tasked with handling business objectives as regards to IT which includes extensive outside client services along with internal business needs.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and deploy long-term strategic plans for acquiring and enabling efficient and cost-effective information processing and communication technologies.
  • Manage IT department’s operational and tactical planning, including business requirements, project planning, and organizing and budgeting and negotiating the allocation of resources.
  • Responsible for the onboarding, oversight and development of IT staff to create a strong capable customer service-oriented team of professionals.
  • Manage IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent IT activities.
  • Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
  • Where necessary, re-engineer applications support to ensure it aligns with business processes, tactical planning, and strategic vision.
  • Define and communicate project milestones, service level agreements, and resource allocation to executive team, department leads, support staff, and end users.
  • Develop and review budgets for and from IT department divisions and ensure they comply with stated goals, guidelines, and objectives.
  • Review performance of IT systems to determine operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements.
  • Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.
  • Develop bid requirements for all hardware and software upgrades, reviews submitted bids for compliance with stated requirements, and makes the appropriate award.
  • Authorize and oversee the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, and support of all hardware and software based on department needs.
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Direct research on potential technology solutions and implementations in support of new initiatives, opportunities, and procurement efforts.
  • Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
  • Oversee negotiation and administration of vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements.

Job Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations; Superior understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives; Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems; Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products.
  • Technical knowledge of current network and PC operating systems, hardware, protocols, and standards. In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT.

  • Strong leadership skills; Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language; highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail and able to inspire and nurture these qualities and attributes in their team.
  • Extensive experience leading a team-oriented, collaborative environment; Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment, both personally and delegated through staff; Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Good understanding and technical knowledge of current network and PC operating systems, hardware, protocols, and standards. Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management; In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents, including technical journals and service agreements. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints from employees and clients. Ability to speak clearly and to make effective and persuasive arguments and presentations on to senior management. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, financial forecasts and budgets.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or analytical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism such as, formulas, equations, graphs, tables, etc. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to proficiently use computer software programs and related computer applications, MS Excel and other Microsoft Office applications and other industry-specific technology tools used within the organization. Familiarity with .NET, SQL Server, VMWare, Sharepoint a plus.
