Business Analyst II

Advantage Tech is searching for a high level Business Analyst, to work with their client based in the Kansas City Metro.

Role and Responsibilities

The Business Analyst II compiles, reports and analyzes data concerning utilization and operational performance for the purpose of providing, internal departments, owner companies and customers with up-to-date information on the operational status of the client.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Consults with business owners to capture requirements.  Recommends alternative methods to meeting customer needs.  Writes requirements into documents.
  • Extracts membership, claims, authorization and telephone data from a variety of company and customer databases.
  • Creates prototype, production, and ad hoc reports as well as visually pleasing dashboards utilizing Tableau software.
  • Researches data availability and quality. 
  • Estimates time required to satisfy a request.
  • Prepares accurate, analytical results which can be readily understood by the customer and converted into action which will lower the cost and/or improve the quality of the company’s products.
  • Tests own output and that of their team members.
  • Actively participates in technical training as required to meet job requirements.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer ScienceInformation Technology, MathematicsStatistics, Business or other relevant field.
  • Intermediate proficiency in SQL and business intelligence applications such as Tableau, MS Analysis/Reporting Services, or Business Objects.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical materials and financial data. 
  • Must be able to present information in a small group setting with internal and external customers.
  • Able to create complex mathematical formulas.
  • Intermediate keyboard skills with strong MS Excel experience including ability to use a variety of Excel functions such as: VLOOKUP, ROUND, SUBTOTAL & SUMPRODUCT.
  • Able to use MS Word and MS PowerPoint to convey results to customers and internal staff.
  • Able to identify and define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
  • MBA or Master’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of 20122013 Microsoft Business Intelligence stack (SharePointPower ViewPower Pivot)
  • Must be able to perform simple statistical significance testing and identify the absence/presence of trends using statistical analysis.
  • Previous experience within the healthcare or insurance industries is highly preferred
