Field Support Specialist

Advantage Tech is searching for a Field Support Specialist that will work for their client based out of Blue Springs, MO.

Job Summary:

The Field Support Specialist provides advanced level support to the Electrical Technical Support team by evaluating information, trouble shooting and testing escalated requests that are forwarded to the Engineering department.  

In addition, this role provides analysis and support through customer on-site visits to assist customers work through installation and operational issues.  

Partner collaboration and product recommendation with Development Engineering on existing products and new development products is required to resolve technical issues.

Primary Responsibilities:

– Develop an understanding of the important specifications and attributes for a wide range of the clients products and technologies to support customer electrical installations and operational issues. 

– Develops a thorough understanding of electrical product operation, configuration and applications.

– Maintains sustaining engineering issue tracking system with periodic updates to outstanding issues.

– Coordinates with Electrical Technical Support department to resolve advanced, complex technical issues through analysis, testing, calibrating, and adjusting equipment.  Makes modifications, adjustments and replacements as needed.

– Interacts with subject matter experts and stakeholders to identify and understand issues being experienced by customers and develops plans to test the issues and identify root cause (in coordination with development staff).

– Supports the development and enhancement of existing and new products by providing feedback based on field experience and utilization of products.

– Adheres to design control processes, provides feedback into development and support processes.

– Conducts experiments, builds prototypes and setups, monitors and measures and devises new testing methods. 

– Improve and refine devises and methods, and draft procedures and documentation.

Experience Desired:

– 5+ years relevant work experience in electrical product support and/or equivalent experience with field installations and support.

Other Experience:

– Experience with electrical technical products, mechanical aptitude, good verbal and written communication skills, ability to manage multiple priorities, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and demonstrated skills to effectively diagnose and identify technical system operational issues.  

– Experience with fire alarms, security or surveillance systems a plus.  

– Able to travel – approximately 20% both domestically and internationally and expected to travel on short notice as needed.  

Education:

– Bachelors degree with an emphasis in an electrical related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
