Senior Network Engineer


A Senior Network Engineer is responsible for maintaining the design and integrity of data network, including customer-facing hosted and cloud environments. They will provide expert technical assistance to team members with high-level system and networking needs. This role will be responsible designing, implementing and testing complex infrastructure in support of our company’s needs.

As a member of the Service Team, a Senior Network Engineer will provide onsite and remote support to any of our sites that have critical response time requirements for their business technology systems.  You will work independently and as part of a team to answer service desk calls, urgently analyze technical issues, address Level 2 escalations, work with the project manager on team related projects, and troubleshoot over the phone/onsite/via remote access.

Finally, this role will successfully demonstrate the skills required to secure and manage network infrastructures to protect productivity, mitigate threats, and reduce costs.


  • Provide technical services and support for the following areas:
    • Network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security
    • Internal systems, cloud and network infrastructure.
    • access solution support: VPN, Terminal Services, and Citrix
    • Remote monitoring and management of system alerts and notifications
    • Microsoft related technologies: Windows Server, Exchange, SQL, SharePoint
    • Virtualization technologies: VMware, Citrix, and Microsoft
  • Participate in the administration and maintenance of the remote monitoring and management system: update agent scripts, respond to alerts, monitor dashboard, and periodic system review. 
  • Provide technical support for and troubleshoot VOIP SIP gateways and other VOIP issues.
  • Work with Sales Team to Engineer projects, identify new products and solutions, and research solutions for existing clients
  • Document maintenance for all computer systems and network infrastructure
  • Communication with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages
  • Be available for other engineers and coach them to resolution
  • Provide exemplary customer service to co-workers and internal customers of the department.
  • Ensure the physical and logical security of the company’s information systems by adhering to established policies and procedures and best practices in the industry.
  • Perform business needs assessment and define, evaluate and recommend new or changes to existing technology and equipment.
  • Ensure integrity of fail-over systems.
  • Maintain configuration documentation of devices and inventory of equipment.
  • Manage and support outside consultants and vendors in troubleshooting issues and implementing changes to the environment.  Ensure proper procedures are followed.
  • Stay abreast of technology developments and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in network projects as both a project manager and a team member.

  • Industry Certifications:  e.g. CCNA, CCNP, CCDP, CCIE, WCNA, JNCIE-ENT, CCSA
  • Windows 2003/2008/2012 and Linux/UNIX experience required
  • Switching (Capacity Planning & VLAN’s)
  • Routing (OSPF, RIPv2, BGP)
  • WAN Technology (MPLS, VPLS, VPN)
  • Voice Technologies (POTS, VoIP, SIP Trunking)
  • Experience with: VPNs, VOIP, SIP Trunking, BGP, VLAN, Large Scale Wireless Deployments
  • Security solutions such as IDS/IPS, SIEM, Log management
  • Switching (Capacity Planning & VLAN’s)
  • Familiarity with: VPNs, VOIP, SIP Trunking, BGP, VLAN, Large Scale Wireless Deployments
  • F5, A10 and other load balancing solutions
  • Subnetting IPV4 networks and IP address management
  • Network design with VLANs and routing
  • Network protocols including TCP/IP, SSH, HTTPS, SCP
  • Deciphering packet captures using Cisco NAM or Wireshark
  • Troubleshooting Access Control Lists using Cisco IOS or NX-OS
  • Performing network management tasks using SolarWinds syslog and SNMP v3
  • Network Monitoring using WhatsUp Gold and other tools
  • Virtualizing a network with VLANs, VDCs, subnetting and VRF
  • Implementing Security Controls with solutions like TACACs, RADIUS, SSH, SCP


  • Four year Bachelor of Science in a computer related field.
  • Five plus years experience in network administration.
  • Working knowledge of Local Area Networks, Wide Area Networks, PCs, and the Internet.
  • Experience with implementing and enforcing corporate security policies, including monitoring software.
