Advantage Tech is hiring a Constructuion Estimator!

The Construction Estimator (CE) is responsible for developing proposals, cost estimates and detailed takeoffs for commercial construction projects of various size and scope.  The CE will gather, evaluate, and prepare detailed total cost information for cost-effectiveness for and during the construction bid process.  CE will visit construction sites as required to gather information and analyze proposals, specifications, blueprints, and construction documents to fully understand the project.  CE will work closely with project managers and other team members to coordinate and oversee the vendors and/or subcontractors in the bid process and throughout the project as needed. CE will determine the time, labor, materials, product costs and lead times for the project and communicate the requirements to the team.  Construction Estimator shall conform to applicable corporate policies and procedures, uphold ethical standards that exemplify corporate values.  

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    • Develop comprehensive cost estimates with attention to general conditions, taxes, fees, and licensing requirements
    • Review of drawings and specifications for completeness and best practices
    • Analyze electronic or physical blueprints, plans, and specifications to understand the project as a whole and prepare detailed estimates
    • Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, and construction supervision to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
    • Prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates for new projects, change orders and budgetary estimates
    • Source, evaluate and coordinate with nationwide sub-contractors to be considered in both competitive and negotiated estimates
    • Participate in subcontractor and vendor vetting process
    • Estimate schedule duration, labor, general conditions, construction materials, lead times and product costs to determine the overall cost and schedule for construction
    • Prepare written proposals, cost estimates, budgets, and updates for the client and the project managers
    • Manage web-based, procurement and sourcing platforms to support efficient sharing of drawings, specifications, RFI’s and other documentation in support of the bid process
    • Consult with engineers, designers, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
    • Facilitate project handoff from estimating to project management
    • Analyze direct and indirect cost budget
    • Manage multiple projects simultaneously

Requirements & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
  • Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) certification from the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) preferred
  • 8+ years of cost estimating and construction administration, architecture, engineering, or similar demonstrated experience
  • Experience with iSquarefoot, Building Connected, TotalBid, Procore, Bluebeam, P6 and similar construction cost estimation and scheduling software
  • Familiarity with construction best practices, general building codes, and various building types
  • Demonstrated experience in estimating ground-up commercial facilities including general commercial and mission critical facilities
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical infrastructure equipment installations
  • Ability to estimate all trades
  • Detail oriented and highly organized
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Drug and background screening will be required
