Programmer Analyst

Advantage Tech is looking for a Program Analyst for our Kansas City, MO Client.  This is primarily a remote position with occasionally coming into the office for now.  


The role of the Programmer Analyst is to design, develop, test, implement, and support business solutions that meet the requirements of the enterprise.  This may involve various platforms, tools, and database formats.



Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems or a related field.  Equivalent work experience of eight years may be substituted for formal education requirement.



  • Design, develop, implement, test, document, and support application software, custom programs, websites, and databases for all locations.
  • Assist end-users with data extraction, analysis, and report creation. Optimize/automate data extraction techniques, query designs, and report designs.
  • Maintain internet and intranet websites.  Work with all departments to keep content updated and functionality current.
  • Assist users with updating and adding content to  intranet ensuring uniform look and feel across the departments. 
  • Provide necessary documents, project work plans, and reports for all project work; actively participate in company-wide projects as a representative of the IT Department.
  • Provide support, training, and issue resolution to end-users as needed for software- and hardware-related questions.
  • Participate in the development of standards such as design assumptions and functional requirements documents, storage of code, reuse of modules, and solution documentation.
  • Assist with day-to-day server and database maintenance and monitoring.

Position Requirements:  

  • Strong customer service skills.  Ability to listen is required. 
  • Experience working with all types of personalities and position levels
  • Minimum of five years work-related experience with variety of programming tools, specifically:  Visual Basic (VBA, VB Script, .NET), Web programming (HTML, XML, Javascript, ASP/.NET), C# or Java
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Sharepoint Services and/or Sharepoint Portal Server a plus.  Skills should include site design and administration, security and access control, backup and recovery, and customization
  • SQL Server administration, database optimization, and analysis skills.  Experience with SQL Reporting Services, Analysis Services, and Integration Services
  • Knowledge of operating systems (Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016, etc.); familiarity with Linux helpful
  • Knowledge of basic networking hardware and protocols preferred
  • Experience with Macromedia Contribute and Flash, Linux/Unix, VMWare, Epicor Manage 2000 ERP software, IBM Unibasic/Unidata or Formscape a plus
  • Ability to work independently and on several projects simultaneously with proven project management and implementation experience
  • Ability to work in a team environment and interact effectively with team members from non-technical disciplines
