Sr. Application Administrator (Cloud)

Advantage Tech is searching for a Sr. Application Administrator for their client in Kansas City, KS.


General Purpose:

Drive the development, maintenance, and implementation of software applications. Administer support on a defined set of technical initiatives proposed for implementation. This includes planning, analysis, troubleshooting, integration, installation, configuration, operations, maintenance, and integrity of application software. Regularly provide advice and recommend actions involving rather complex issues. Work independently with guidance only in the most complex situations. Resolve highly complex issues in creative and effective ways and perform analysis of situation or data that requires evaluation of variable factors. Recommend best practices. Lead functional teams and/or projects.


This role prompts operational effectiveness and growth of a best-in-class, leading-edge organization and ensures long-term requirements of systems operations and administration are included in the overall information systems planning of the organization.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with credibility and confidence when interacting with customers, coworkers, and stakeholders. Present application status and proposed solutions in a logical manner with a focus on benefits and based on relevant data. Adjust communications to fit the audience and message. Share information freely and openly, within ITS and with other stakeholder groups
  • Oversee application status and drive configuration, installation, maintenance, upgrades, and general support. Ensure the alignment of all activities to existing policies, processes, and procedures. Create and maintain thorough documentation to track configuration settings. Assist with user and group access to applications 
  • Ensure application uptime meets or exceeds defined SLAs. Leverage relationships with coworkers and across departments to resolve issues affecting customers. Identify priorities and present solutions, keeping the customer in mind
  • Perform application upgrades and patching, including planning and scheduling, testing, and coordination
  • Learn and adapt quickly to new situations, changing priorities, and disruptive technologies. Create opportunities to develop continuous improvement efforts. Maintain currency with latest industry knowledge and take initiative to experiment with new ideas and technologies
  • Continually develop new skills, knowledge, and abilities to maintain currency on developments with supported applications and architecture. Consistently align department activities with industry best practices.
  • Analyze problems by performing root cause analysis exercises. Identify and recommend solutions for problem resolution and prevention. Engage vendor support to leverage product expertise. Critically evaluate the benefits of implementing a temporary workaround versus a permanent solution
  • Support the vision for Cloud Applications. Work closely with team members and management to implement and support effective solutions for cloud applications. Maintain currency with technology, standards, and best practices. Support process improvement efforts within the team and across ITS

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, with a technical major, such as computer science with 5+ years’ system administration or transferable technical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with various virtualization technologies and multi-tenant, private, and hybrid cloud environments
  • Experience with Windows scripting and automation tools such as Power Shell, Powershell Workflow, System Center Orchestrator, or Azure Automation
  • Knowledge of the following technologies: Windows OS, Active Directory, File and Print services, VMWare, Networking, Azure
  • Work with migration from on-premises to cloud services such as Azure or AWS
  • Experience in design, architecture, and implementation of SaaS applications
  • Experience with web-based, multi-layered enterprise applications
  • Experience with customer issue tracking and ticketing systems
  • Experience assigning and configuring user permissions; experience managing an active directory
  • Experience managing application credentials
  • Experience managing and contributing to the development of best practice policies and procedures
