Transmission Planning Engineer

Advantage Tech is looking for a Transmission Planning Engineer.

The position will be required to:
Perform steady-state, transient stability, and short circuit analysis to comply with NERC reliability standards, including, but not limited to, TPL-001, FAC-002, EOP-005, and CIP-014.
•Perform analysis to determine transmission impacts of potential generator additions or retirements and identify potential transmission solutions to minimize those impacts.
•Assist in implementation of new facility rating methodology.
•Knowledge of electric transmission systems and transmission system planning processes.
•Experience with power system planning and operations; voltage analysis; NERC, FERC, and Southwest Power Pool requirements, policies and procedures; production costing; risk assessment techniques; TPL compliance; generator interconnection; and harmonics analysis.

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited university (ABET) and at least 3 years of electric utility experience. Basic computer skills (MS Windows, Word, Outlook, Excel, internet) Strong computer skills using industry software such as PSS/E and PromodStrong communication skills (both verbal and written) and presentation skills. Ability to work as part of a team and collaboratively with other groups as well as customers. Must possess a valid driver's license Must have high regard for working safely and take responsibility for ensuring others work safely as well.
